Getting Married During Harvest: A Fall Wine Country Guide
June 2026 — 6 min read

Harvest is why fall looks the way it does here — golden vines, warm days, cool nights. It is also why venues are busiest and least flexible.
Availability and cost
Peak harvest dates book eighteen months out and carry premium pricing. Working wineries may also restrict access during crush, so confirm what production activity your date allows before signing.
Light and timing
Sunset moves from 7:15pm in early September to 6:15pm by late October. A ceremony that worked in July needs to shift ninety minutes earlier, and every downstream moment moves with it.
Planning honestly around fire season
Late-season air quality is a real variable. We build indoor fallback into every fall contract, hold event insurance that covers air quality cancellation, and keep a communications plan ready. It is not pessimism, it is competence.
Oasis Weddings & Events plans and designs weddings across Sonoma and Napa Valley. If you are dreaming of a wine country celebration, we would love to hear your story.
Frequently asked
- Should we avoid October weddings in wine country?
- No. Late October is often clear, cool and stunning, and pricing softens after the last week of harvest. Just plan a genuine indoor alternative.
