The Best Time of Year for a Sonoma or Napa Wedding

Wine country has a genuine five-month peak, and everything outside it is either a bargain or a gamble. Both can be wonderful with the right plan.
Spring: April to early June
Mustard has passed, hills are still green, and evenings sit in the low 60s. Rain risk in April is real but modest — about a one-in-five chance on any given day. This is our favourite underrated window.
Summer: late June to August
Reliable and dry, but upvalley Napa can hit 95–100°F. Push the ceremony to 6pm, build shade, and plan a cool indoor or tented dinner space.
Harvest: September and October
The most requested and most expensive months. Vines are heavy, light is amber, and the valley hums. Book 18 months out and expect peak pricing. Note that active crush means some wineries restrict access to production areas.
Off-season: November to March
Bare vines, dramatic skies, fireplaces and 30 percent lower pricing. A fully covered rain plan is non-negotiable, but winter wine country weddings are quietly some of the most romantic we produce.
